An Exciting Announcement

This past weekend I was able to announce something exciting, something that was a long time coming. Our Executive Pastor Search Team met for over seven months trying to find the perfect fit for our Hope family. Thirty-seven people applied, and we interviewed twelve of them. After all that work, we found our person right within our midst.

I’m grateful to share that Charlie Wells has agreed to be our new Executive Pastor. Charlie will be leaving Koch Industries where he has worked the past few years and will be starting full-time at Hope on Aug 25th.

Charlie and his wife Amanda have been attending Hope for over fifteen years. Their oldest son, Oliver, is entering the fourth grade and was recently baptized at our Annual Baptism Sunday. Their daughter Anna is excited to be entering our Bullfrogs & Butterflies Preschool this fall. You might recognize Oliver and Anna as they frequently join Charlie in giving our weekly announcements.

As Executive Pastor, Charlie will be managing our staff and will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of our church. He will also be overseeing our Benevolence and Celebrate Recovery Ministries, providing pastoral support to our church family, and wearing the many different “hats” our pastoral staff wear.

I’m really excited about this hire because Charlie knows us and our culture well. Charlie is very much a guy that values Jesus and relationships, and I believe he will smoothly transition into this role.

As we continue to grow here at Hope, Charlie will be able to help us think through and plan the best ways for us to continue following our mission of “bringing people closer to Jesus” while also helping us reach a growing community.

We will be having a come-and-go party to welcome Charlie and Amanda on Aug 26th from 4:00-5:00pm in The Cup. I hope you’ll be able to join us. And I thought I should mention that, Charlie already has an email address setup, so feel free to send him a welcome email:

Another exciting announcement is that next week we will be starting a new sermon series.

I feel like it is as easy as ever to get distracted from living a life with Jesus. Our world today is bursting with attractive distractions that tempt us into making Jesus an afterthought. We too easily settle for leftovers when a full course meal is available.

That is why I am excited that next week we will start our new sermon series that will walk us through the book of Colossians. Colossians is a letter all about Jesus and addresses many of the things that distract us from leaning into the Jesus who can fully save, change, and satisfy us.

I hope you can join us for this new series, and I hope you’d prayerfully consider inviting someone to Hope.

Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation….He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15,17
