A memory I had all but forgotten came back to me this past week. It was a memory about my grandma, and how one day, with dark ominous clouds in the sky, she proclaimed that a “baptism rain” was about to fall upon us.
My brother and I gave my grandma some confused looks and asked her what a “baptism rain” was. She went on to tell us that “baptism rain” was a southern expression and rooted in God’s provision of rain and refreshing in our life.
This week I did a quick google search on “baptism rain” and was pointed to this scripture verse: The earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before God, the One of Sinai, before God, the God of Israel. You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, God, you provided for the poor. (Psalm 68:8-10)
Well, I think it is safe to say we’ve received our share of “baptism rain” these past couple weeks! Thank you, Jesus!
And speaking of baptism, and speaking of rain…We want you to know that, rain or shine, we will be having our Annual Baptism Sunday this coming June 2nd at 10:00am.
We currently have more than 45 Hopesters signed up to be baptized! Yay! God! And we aren’t going to let a little rain get in the way of us celebrating this public declaration of their faith.
As of right now, we are planning to have our Baptism celebration on the back of Hope’s property at our Outdoor Amphitheater. However, if the field is too soggy, we will move our service to our outdoor basketball courts. And if it’s raining the morning of June 2nd, then we will move indoor to Trinity Academy High School (96 Hwy and 21st St.).

We currently have over 45 Hopesters making this beautiful decision to be baptized and I don’t want a little rain to slow us down from celebrating. I hope, rain or shine, you’ll make plans to join us in celebrating!
