Hope In Action

Ongoing projects serving the under-served in our community. Needs: volunteers to serve one weekend per month or based on needs. You do not need to have handyman skills to be involved in Hope in Action. There are projects with which anyone can help.

Once a year, Hopesters join with other churches in the area to serve the under-served in the communities of Andover, Towanda, Rose Hill and Benton. Hands2Serve 2017 will be on October 7. Learn more about Hands2Serve here.

Hope for Teachers

There are a lot of teachers/educators at Hope. We are grateful for them and all the teachers in our community, and want to find ways to care for and support them. These are ongoing efforts geared toward letting teachers know they are appreciated – baking cookies, etc.

Circle of Hope

Circle of Hope is a fellowship group for widows. They have a monthly gathering and a yearly retreat. Learn more about Circle of Hope on the Women of Hope page here. They have a need for drivers who are willing to drive ladies to and from monthly and other events.

Hope 4 the Homeless

Organizer(s): Deidra Thomas

Providing, preparing and serving meals for Wichita Children’s Home OZ Street Outreach Program and homeless adults at a Wichita Park. Volunteers may choose to serve AND/OR provide AND/OR pray as regularly or occasionally as they are able.

  • OZ Monthly Meal – 4th Thursdays 5:30-7 pm. Servers must undergo OZ volunteer approvals ( prior to serving.
  • Naftzger Park Meal – every 5th Saturday 11am-1pm. Food handlers card required to serve food not prepackaged.
  • Sign-up sheets for each event (food requests and service) are sent by email. Monetary donations may be made out to Hope Community Chrch with “Hope 4 the Homeless” in the memo.
  • Additional donations of travel-sized toiletries are collected in a tub by the entrance to The Cup at Hope. Other seasonal needs and collections will be sent by email.
Mentoring students at Brooks Middle School

Brooks is an urban middle school in Wichita with a “minority majority.” Mentor middle schoolers in the following ways:

  • Lunch time mentoring (once a week), 45 minutes or 1-1/2 hrs once a week (between 11:30 & 1:15)
  • After school homework help, anytime between 2:30 & 5:00 on Mon, Tues, Thurs
  • Chess Club volunteers, Wednesdays 2:45-3:45.
Dragon Master Foundation
