The End Times??

Rising tensions and conflict in the Middle East. Solar Eclipses. Red-heifers. Earthquakes. In the past few months, I’ve heard each of these topics linked to the return of Jesus in some form or fashion. When you begin to look into topics of biblical prophecy, the End Times or the return of Jesus, you will find a ton of noise. There are some who claim to have “unlocked” secret meanings in the biblical texts or who, on a weekly basis, show events in the world fulfilling specific prophecies from the Bible. Other Christian voices advise caution against reading too much into any of these things. So, Hopesters, what do we make of all these events and predictions? Do we lean into them? Should we consider their claims or just distance ourselves from all this rhetoric?

Well, just because there are a lot of differing and potentially divisive views about this difficult topic, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t dive in to this often-debated doctrine. So that’s exactly what we will be doing! As I have been reading and studying over the past few months in preparation for our upcoming Hope Workshop: Exploring the End Times, I have a greater peace and assurance in the God who holds all things together. This God is a God of love and a God of justice. He is a God of peace and of truth. He is infinitely grand and majestic, yet so caring and patient with His less than perfect people. And so, for you…

If injustice, lies, persecution, and wars make you upset…
If you ever feel out of place in this space…
If you ever are confused by this world and what is happening around us…
If you ever feel like a wanderer, a sojourner, an exile…
If you long for a better home, a better city, a better community…
If you desire the nearness, the presence of God, in your life in a clearer way…
There is Good News! As believers, we have this around the corner for us…

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now
among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself
will be with them and be their God. (Revelation 21:3)

Friends, we can have great expectation and hope for what is to come. Please consider
participating as we discuss and learn together at Hope Workshop: Exploring the End Times.
Pastor Naomi and I are looking forward sharing with you all. Please let us know how many
childcare workers we need and how many pizzas and donuts to order by signing up here. This workshop is provided to you at no cost and we hope you can be there. I am looking forward to this encouraging time as we learn together!

Blessings,
Pastor Mark
